Can't reproduce. I installed 21.04 and it works just fine. Do you have any more details? Created attachment 138990 [details] Pictures.zip Hi, Sorry for delay, I have been busy learning more of KDE & Kubuntu. Today I had time to try Samba again, but Windows 7 or Linux cinnamon could not connect to it ? I attached images of how i installed Samba share & the conf file that Kubuntu created. Also here is the Windows screenshot. It will not accept the sharing password I set in Samba Thanks hope this helps Gary On 01/06/2021 10:00, Harald Sitter wrote: > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=437829 > > Harald Sitter <sitter@kde.org> changed: > > What |Removed |Added > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > CC| |sitter@kde.org > Resolution|--- |WAITINGFORINFO > Status|REPORTED |NEEDSINFO > > --- Comment #1 from Harald Sitter <sitter@kde.org> --- > Can't reproduce. Created attachment 139085 [details] attachment-22465-0.html HI Harald, Thanks for your time, I now have it working by following this excellent 1 hour tutorial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXcMxo6f1kA&list=WL&index=1 I had to delete the original samba.conf and gradually add text to a new samba.conf file, as the tutorial had showed me. /"Also here is the Windows screenshot. It will not accept the sharing password I set in Samba"/ This was my fault, I did not realise that I had to change the Login to that of the Kubuntu user name, i was only changing the Samba password. At least with the problems I have had, i have been forced to learn more about the conf file and how to customise it. Which is all good knowledge for the future. While KDE desktop environment is complicated, i do thoroughly like it ! Soon to leave Windows behind. 😁 Thanks Gary Cool that you got it working. Not exactly the greatest experience that it doesn't work out of the box but I'm also not quite sure what actually was wrong to begin with. |
