SUMMARY
When previewing a video timeline wipes between clips and fade in and out on both audio and video clips work as expected. When the video is rendered, the finished video file does not have the wipes, or fades.

Please disable parallel processing in the render dialog and try again. 

Try with the current Kdenlive AppImage version 21.04.0 to see if there are any packaging issues https://download.kde.org/stable/kdenlive/21.04/linux/

Turning off parallel processing didn't work but the appimage did.

Thank you for the feedback. It seems this is a packaging issue which we can't fix. Which Kdenlive package do you use?

I am using the package built into the Arch repo. Problem with the appimage is all the icons are the KDENLive icon so if I have to know which button I want to click. That is fine for rendering but not so good for editing.

Try to activate Settings > Force Breeze Icon Theme to solve the icon problem

That fixed the icons.
