I have noticed that usually in cases where pkcon gets stuck, executing it with elevated permissions from the beginning seems to somewhat reliably fix the issue of it getting stuck. I have not yet experienced that sudo pkcon update got stuck. Note however that I got prompted for the sudo password every time I ran only pkcon update. Okay it seems that recently this does no longer happen. Until it re-surfaces, I'll close this report. I have to revise that. Today it hung again I often have the same issue as well. pkcon often hangs at the "Running" stage. I can fix it by running sudo apt full-upgrade. pkcon is part of packagekit, it's bugs are tracked here: https://github.com/PackageKit/PackageKit/issues Faced this same issue. The solution was to run pkcon update with admin privileges(sudo) I did not note the software versions before the update but after the update the versions are : Software/OS version(After pkcon update) Operating System: KDE neon 5.27 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.9 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.111.0 Qt Version: 5.15.11 Kernel Version: 5.15.0-75-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX with Radeon Graphics Memory: 15.0 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon Graphics |
