Description nwc 2021-04-28 04:58:27 UTC
SUMMARY
I added 400 GiB worth of clips to project, and UI is frozen. Process Explorer shows that kdenlive is doing something (spawning ffmpeg processes).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add 400 clips (~400GiB of data) to project (not on timeline, but just to project bin)

OBSERVED RESULT
UI freezes

EXPECTED RESULT
UI should be responsive while kdenlive imports all files

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19041.928]

Thank you for reporting. This is a known issue as Kdenlive is importing all clips concurrent and this blocks the hard disk. We working on a way to import clips each by each see here: https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenlive/-/issues/986.

Workaround: drag/drop only 10-20 clips at ones.

If you never mind I close this issue as we track it already here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407083
