Description Andrea Ippolito 2021-04-09 15:44:29 UTC
I'm used to launch apps by pressing Meta + start typing (e.g. Meta + type "Kate") + Enter.
The panel containing the menu is on the left.

The problem I'm facing is that, depending on the position of the mouse cursor, the search result might not be focused anymore, because while I type and the search results are refined, the cursor briefly highlights another match that instantly disappear when I type more letters. As a consequence, it's as if a previous search result that happened to be briefly displayed under the mouse cursor kept the focus, even after I finally finish typing my full search query. The result is that, while my Kate search result is shown first, pressing Enter is not enough to open it.

Here you can find a short screen recording to illustrate the problem:

Is there any way to fix this? Like maybe ALWAYS highlight the first match, irrespective of the mouse position, and only change that selection if a mouse movement is detected?

Thanks in advance.

This was fixed a while ago and remains fixed in the Plasma 5.21 redesign. :)

Good to know!
I guess it's time to pull the trigger on that migration to Neon that I have been thinking of lately... :D
