Is the .desktop file for the game marked as executable? A screen recording would help, if you can attach one. Problem partially was resolved, I do not known why. Currently, only empty .desktop files for non-installed software are opened as text file. That is expected behavior, because empty files are normal files and KIO is not related only for .desktop file. It is also fit to use with FUSE. You can see movie here: https://youtu.be/UqPWqGixQws I think real problem was #! interpreter pointer at beginning. Currently, GNOME or KDE uses it to point this file should been opened with xdg-open or something. I think I was trying to open file with/without this line at beginning. I will do more test. I must open another bug report about opening web pages from KMail/Akregator. If web page have different extension than .html (.php for example), browser such like Firefox will not open it, but ask to download. I will fill other bug report for this problem in future.
