I must add this is a regression. I have been using Konqueror for > 10 years and "F4" would always open a terminal in the currently displayed folder, not user's home... Also, the "Configuration / Show terminal" menu that opens a terminal also opens it in user's home instead of the current folder. Both similar options in Dolphin work fine and use the current folder. there is the right click action "open terminal here" assigned to inode/directory mime type, but it it's not a good replacement. You have to enable it in konqueror settings, because it's a so called "kde service". Compared to hitting F4 or the terminal icon, it requires too much interaction for my taste. It also only works on a subdirectory of your working dir, so it's not the same thing as it used to be in Buster. It is a well known basic principle that the user interface should never be changed unless there are compelling reasons to do so. In case such a changement is inevitable, there should also be implemented a possibility for users to configure their choice to keep old style or change to new approach. Unless the KDE gurus deliver convincing arguments why this has not been done, IMHO this is one more proof of contempt of the users. |
