SUMMARY
When opening an existing project a clip is reported as missing although it exists

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open project which had been saved and correctly closed previously
2. Error message reports clip as missing
3. When trying to find clip manually the file doesn't appear in the position where it is definitely present.
4. When the file is copied to another location it still can't be found there.
5. Restarting the system doesn't change anything

OBSERVED RESULT
The "missing" clip exists and can be executed with VLC. When the clip is copied and renamed it can be found manually.

EXPECTED RESULT
The clip shouldn't be reported missing and should be found manually

The error occured with the latest appimage, to my knowledge at least.

What kind of file is it? Is it in another drive? Did you move/rename it after closing Kdenlive?

The file concerned had not been moved or edited in any way. Strange thing is that when I tried to manually locate it it didn't appear in the list of files while the file manager (dolphin) showed it and also from the command line 'ls' it was clearly there. The previous time I had worked on the project was closed quite normally.

I just noticed something that may clear the problem but add to the confusion. The name of the file was given by a professional film digitizing enterprise and contains an umlaut, i.e. a specific German character. However, what puzzles me is that I had used it before for several weeks, possibly months. Perhaps that is giving you a clue.

Can you please check whether this issue still exists in the latest version 24.12.0?

If yes, please update this report to reflect the new version.

If it works now like you expect it would, you may change the status of this report to RESOLVED - FIXED.

At any rate, this report will be closed if there is no activity for the next 30 days.
