This means that Spectacle was secretly still running in the background. I've seen this occasionally happen in the past but I thought we fixed it. :/ Created attachment 136946 [details]

I have tried taking the screen shot from the latest version of spectacle "spectacle 21.07.70". The result was as shown in the attachment. The screen shot preview shown is that of a konsole window which I had taken at a prior time. I had pressed the "Prc Sc" button while on brave browser homepage, which can be seen in the background of the attachment. I had to repeat taking new screen shot 3 to 4 times for the screen shot of the brave homepage to come.
I'm unable to replicate this, when Spectacle opens and I have it set to take a screenshot when opening, it's correctly showing my current screen layout.
