SUMMARY


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a folder in Dolphin. From that folder, select a file or folder and prepare for copying by pressing Ctrl+C
2. Show desktop (Super+Shift+D on OpenSUSE). In the desktop, select a file by clicking on it
3. Delete the file from the desktop by pressing Shfit+Del (deletes permanently without moving to Trash). When prompted, confirm
4. Hit Ctrl+V

OBSERVED RESULT
A nonsensical error message saying "The file or folder <file> does not exist"

where <file> is the name of the file deleted at step 3.

EXPECTED RESULT

Shouldn't show any error message, and should paste the file copied at step 1, resulting in copying it to the desktop. The fact that the file we deleted doesn't exist (duh!) is not a reason for not being able to copy a completely unrelated file, that we selected for copying.


Note that if, at step 3, you hit only Del (without Ctrl), hence moving the file to the Trash, the issue does not occur.
