SUMMARY

The startup takes a long time and hangs on "checking ICC repository..."

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

Start the widows app

It was faster in the past days. So it might be a good idea NOT to rely on an internet connection for application startup and put all sync work in the background once started.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: 10

digiKam does not connect to the internet when it starts. In sidebars, which may show a Google map, this takes place in the background and has no influence on the start-up time. Create a DebugView log as described here: https://www.digikam.org/contribute/ and upload it here.

Debug view from startup.

Seems the the adding of album "Pcitures" takes that long.

During the message "Check ICC repository ...", among other things, the digiKam color profiles are searched for and whether other color profiles are available. In this section, however, the albums are also loaded.

Yes, loading albums takes a long time for you. How many albums do you have in "Pictures"? Could you have enabled the option to monitor albums for external changes in the collection settings?

Hello,

no the "monitor albums for external changes" is not set.
But, the directory tree contains an old Lighroom directory with the previews. I was too quick on the import/add and forgot to exclude it.

This might be the reason for a long start as before, without that, it was OK.

I think we can close that issue here as it seems to be the ammount of files.
