Description kde 2021-02-18 20:59:17 UTC
Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20210215
KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.78.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Kernel Version: 5.10.16-1-default
OS Type: 64-bit
Graphics Platform: X11

The new Plasma 5.21 application launcher can look slow to display because the last location is remembered.

Steps to reproduce:

- open application launcher
- go to "Places", but don't click on anything
- close application launcher by clicking outside the window
- open application launcher again
- there is a scrolling animation as the launcher switches back to "Applications"

Since the launcher always starts from "Applications" anyway, this scrolling animation when switching back from a previously selected "Places" is unnecessary and looks sluggish.

Just saw that it makes no difference if you launch something from "Places" in the steps described, the animation is still there.
