It sounds like the change in what is displayed depends on including/excluding a category, or in this case a split from the transaction, and whether that's right or wrong might depend on what the report is trying to show. Which exact report are you using, and do different transaction reports have the same behavior? Also, on the report configuration dialog, on the Rows/Columns tab, does changing the value of the "Hide Split Transaction Details" checkbox make any difference Created attachment 144206 [details] attachment-10773-0.html Jack Here are the details of the problem: I live in the US. If I buy shares in a foreign-country based company, by law, my broker must withhold 10% of any dividends paid by that company for foreign taxes. So, for example, if I buy stock in Foreign Company and it pays a $100 dividend, I have the $100 dividend reported for tax purposes, I have $10 in foreign taxes withheld and that amount is also reported for tax purposes, and I get $90 net posted to my account as cash. At year end, I need to be able to report on the gross amount of dividends = $100 and foreign taxes paid = $10. I enter the transaction into KMY$ in the brokerage stocks account as a split transaction: Activity=Dividend Account=Brokerage account Fees=Foreign Taxes Paid:appropriate country = $10 Interest=Ordinary Dividends = $100 KMy$ shows the transaction in the ledger box on the right as: Fee Amount=$10 Interest=$100 Total=$90 When I run an Investment Transactions Report: 1. If I check to hide splits, I see the net amount ($90) listed with action Dividend. That is a wrong amount to report. I would want the $100 actual total dividend reported as Dividend if I hide splits. 2. The only way I can get the report needed for tax purposes is to run the Investment Transactions report and: Filter to select only accounts I think I paid foreign taxes on, Show accounts Organize by Categories This is an in-elegant solution, since I either have to remember which investments (accounts) may have paid a dividend subject to foreign taxes, or I have to run an individual report for each account (investment) and see if it shows foreign taxes paid. My goal was to create a report that would correspond to my brokerage reporting which shows all gross dividends paid by investment and any foreign taxes paid. The net actual cash posted to the account as reported by KMy$ is meaningless for tax purposes. Thanks for all the work you do on this program, Mark On Fri, Dec 3, 2021 at 8:48 PM Jack <bugzilla_noreply@kde.org> wrote: > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432642 > > Jack <ostroffjh@users.sourceforge.net> changed: > > What |Removed |Added > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Status|REPORTED |NEEDSINFO > CC| > |ostroffjh@users.sourceforge > | |.net > Resolution|--- |WAITINGFORINFO > > --- Comment #1 from Jack <ostroffjh@users.sourceforge.net> --- > It sounds like the change in what is displayed depends on > including/excluding a > category, or in this case a split from the transaction, and whether that's > right or wrong might depend on what the report is trying to show.
