2. click Search -> From Here
3. enter search term 

OBSERVED RESULT
see all files /

EXPECTED RESULT
see only files from actual sub-path

KDE Frameworks 5.78.0
Qt 5.15.2 (built against 5.15.2)

Doesn't Dolphin show where it is basing its "From Here"...

If you were in the Documents folder and did a Ctrl-F you'd see a
   From Here (Documents)

Do you see a 
   From Here (somewhere)
or a 
   From Here (/)
