SUMMARY
It would be very useful if Dolphin could display recently opened directories.

In my case a Dolphin window with multiple tabs crashed and I wanted to restore the tabs which I don't remember but those places were not displayed under "Recently Closed Tabs" (Control->Go->Recently Closed Tabs or Control->Configure Toolbars->move it from the left to the right).

It would also be nice if there were a set of preconfigured "Places" to choose from when clicking "Add Entry" on the left "Places" panel and if these included an entry for "Recent Places" which when clicked shows which directories were recently opened.

KDE's "History" in the main options in the bottom left also only show "Documents" but not directories (that would be a separate issue though). And there could also be a "session" feature for Dolphin which allows you to save sessions of opened tabs and restore them upon closing the window or in cases where Dolphin crashed.

This is either a wishlist item or a normal issue - tabs that were opened in a recently closed window of Dolphin are still "recently closed tabs" so imo the "recently closed tabs" feature is not complete if they don't also show such tabs.

OBSERVED RESULT
"Recently closed tabs" only show tabs of the current window, but not of former windows and I could not display recently opened directories in any way in Dolphin.

EXPECTED RESULT
"Recently closed tabs" should also show tabs of crashed and closed Dolphin windows and/or there should be a way to display recently opened folders if Dolphin is configured to do so.

Indeed. That's why it's so great that it already can! :) Check out the "recent locations" item in the places panel on the left.

Yes, I thought I've seen that but I can find this nowhere when I enable "Show All Entries". How to display it in v 18.08?

I only have "Recently Saved"->"Modified Today" even though I have to admit that this comes close to what I was seeking.

You can't; it was added years later. Dolphin 18.08 is more than two years old! We are working on 21.04 right now. I can't believe any distro is still shipping Dolphin 18.08. You should upgrade if possible.

Do you know of any ongoing work or plans to set up a Debian repository with newer KDE software? I'm already using the latest (stable/main) version of Debian.
