Description Johannes 2021-01-03 15:40:34 UTC
Feature request: I miss the ability to select the next files while downloading/importing files from my USB device. Especially downloading (big) video files takes a long time. During that time, I would like to continue selecting the next files and choosing the destination album.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Import -> USB Storage Device -> My Device
2. Select a (big) file and download it
3. Try to select more files while the download is still in progress

OBSERVED RESULT
Selection of other files is not possible.#

EXPECTED RESULT
I'm able to select more files and choose their destination album.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Ubuntu 18.04.05
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.73.0
Qt Version: 5.14.2

This wish is currently not possible. First, a kind of queue would have to be created for new download tasks. Furthermore, the import tool not only works with UMS devices, but also with GPhoto2 devices. Remember, if the icon view remains active, thumbnails or other metadata would have to be loaded again during the download. However, the GPhoto2 driver cannot process multiple requests at the same time.

Too bad, it would help to keep the focus on the work.
At the moment, I'm likely to switch to a browser and do something else while waiting for the download to complete.
