Hello Gilles, the icons in the maps menu should be complete as in the
manual instead they are blind. in the people management, on the other hand,
the writing in bold remains with the indication of new ones that are not
there.

The icons are well visible here. Did you try to use AppImage bundle instead a native version.

Also check the theme used to render application.

I answer as I understand it.
All icons are only visible with the Breeze Icon theme. In digiKam Setup, select the Breeze Icon theme under Miscellaneous-> Appearance, depending on the color scheme Breeze or Breeze-Dark.
In the people view, the "new" refers to faces that they have not yet given a name and are unconfirmed, not whether the tag is new.
