I cannot reproduce the problem. All databases are created in the location specified by the parameter "--database-directory". Activate the debug output as described here: https://www.digikam.org/contribute/ and give us the full log from the start including the digiKam start line. Maik Created attachment 134433 [details]

Hello Maik, thank you for the fast reply and happy new year!
It seems like specifying "--database-directory" works flawlessly when using an absolute path but only creates "digikam4.db" when using relative paths. In my case I always referenced the current directory with the "."
I uploaded my logs into the attachment.
