SUMMARY
I noticed that when I use certain Kra files, the color picker's 
floating interface won't show anymore.
Really weird if you ask me

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Download and open the provided Kra file in Krita
2. Try to pick a color on the canvas

OBSERVED RESULT
The UI showing the floating color updates doesn't show

EXPECTED RESULT
UI should always show.

OS : Windows 10 1909

Krita version : 4.4.3(git beae9e4)

Just to be sure, this is about the Ctrl and 
I'm having issues too, some documents work, some don't, I couldn't figure out a pattern yet. When switching document views, sometimes it works once and then stops working etc.

But it seems to go away when I revert https://invent.kde.org/graphics/krita/-/commit/ee84722df264883cc5841d2000d94b35c9da478c
unless it was just weird luck (tried twice with and w/o that commit)

I can't really see anything obviously wrong with that commit though, but it does shuffle around some color picking preview code...

I don't know if it's the same issue, but certain tools that can invoke the color picker just don't show the color preview at all.

These tools are:
* Bezier Curve Tool
* Freehand Path Tool
* Gradient Tool
* Smart Patch Tool (though a bit unnecessary)
* Fill Tool

Honorable mention: The color selector tool itself doesn't have its own floating preview.
