Description Firlaev-Hans 2020-12-23 09:49:51 UTC
I'm using the latest kdenlive 20.12 flatpak. I was playing around with GPU processing. My preview resolution was set to 540p (I was also using proxys, but disabling them made no difference). When I changed the preview resolution to 1:1 (1080p), the preview window looked zoomed in with weird artifacts.
Using an AMD RX580 with Mesa 20.2.3 btw.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set the playback resolution to less than 1:1 (in my case 540p)
2. Enable Movit GPU processing
3. After that, change the playback resolution to something bigger (1:1)

OBSERVED RESULT
Preview glitches out with artifacts until Kdenlive is restarted

EXPECTED RESULT
Playback resolution changes like normal

Hi and thank you for your patience.

Can you please check whether this issue still exists in the latest version 24.12.0?

If yes, please update this report to reflect the new version and set the status to CONFIRMED.

If it works now like you expect it would, you may change the status of this report to RESOLVED - FIXED.

At any rate, this report will be closed if there is no activity for the next 30 days.

I can't easily test that at the moment because GPU processing is greyed out in the Flatpak, AppImage and Fedora RPM.
Besides, last time I checked in the last couple of years, enabling GPU processing just made Kdenlive crash. Has that changed?

No, GPU support for playback is still not available due to the issues with movit library and MLT

I'm setting this to RESOLVED-UPSTREAM because Kdenlive cannot do anything about it.
