(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kaddressbook
Version: 3.0 (using KDE 3.0.1 )
Severity: normal
Installed from: compiled sources
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.4 20011002 (Debian prerelease)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.2.19
OS/Compiler notes:

If I enter an incomplete date in the birthday field (e.g. "03.05.19??" if I don't know the year) the date is not saved. It will be silently discarded without any warnings.

Can confirm with todays cvs build 3.1 rc2 (starting with qt-copy)

o double click on an entry with no birthday
o in birthday field of the general tab enter: 23.07 or 23.07.19??

Press tab and birthday field is cleared.

Further:
Up to now I also used always year 2000 for birthdays in case I do not know the year.
When I know delele '.2000' and press tab, in the birthday field '.2000' is automaticly
appended again. :(

As a result the modified dd.mm birthday field gets not saved of course ;)

We can't save incomplete dates, because the vCard format, we use as
default storeage format, doesn't support this.
In CVS HEAD a dialog appears now if you've entered an invalid date.
So the bug should be fixed now.

Thank you for the report

The development of the old KAddressBook will be discontinued for KDE 4.4.
Since the new application has the same name, but a completly new code base we close all bug reports against the old version and ask the submitters to resend there reports against the new product.
