STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a program with wine
2. Click with the middle button of the mouse on it to open a new instance
3. Does not work

If you right-click on the icon, does it have a "Start new instance" menu item? If it does, when you click on it, does it start a new instance?

Then the app is telling us that it doesn't support this functionality, so we don't allow it. :) If you disagree with this, you can go bug the WINE people.

I wouldn't have opened the bug without first testing it in another DE.

That would have been good information to mention in the initial report, as I have no way of knowing this. :)
