Is this still relevant? I can't reproduce on 23.04.1 and it's a little vague with no information or screenshots... Created attachment 159203 [details]

Thanks! Do you have Baloo (file indexing) enabled for that folder? I think this is where Dolphin fetches the information from (In reply to Joshua Goins from comment #3) > Thanks! Do you have Baloo (file indexing) enabled for that folder? I think > this is where Dolphin fetches the information from Yes, Baloo is indexing the directory, albeit that it is not indexing file content. I have it indexing filenames only. If the additional information requires Baloo indexing the file content as well, then I guess the issue can be closed. 🤷🏼♂ Dear Bug Submitter, This bug has been in NEEDSINFO status with no change for at least 15 days. Did you read the rest of the thread? Have you tried enabling "index file content" and see if that helps any?

I just did, I don't believe that this should be a requirement to have a file contents indexer running in order to display what is visible on a dolphin properties detail pane. For the sake of testing, I turned it on. Dimensions showed up for some images, but not all--both jpg and png. I am attaching a small png (raptors.png) as an example image that dolphin is not showing the dimensions of. I checked locally and it works here actually, regardless of indexing. Sorry about that! I assume this is something we fixed, but SteamOS is running an ancient version of everything. Sorry > about that! > > I assume this is something we fixed, but SteamOS is running an ancient > version of everything. I actually have an update.. where I got it to work properly.. wondering now what the solution is for other people. In the terminal, balooctl status said idle with no files waiting to be indexed.. but typing balooctl purge forced it to rebuild the index from scratch and after it was done, then image dimensions were visible for everything including the attachment I put up. I wonder if there is a way the system could detect that a purge is needed.. e.g. "known" filetype that should have something but nothing is present in the column. |
