Yikes! Graphic driver issues. run "kcmshell5 qtquicksettings" and set render loop to basic and see if that still has issues. If that still gives issues as a workaround you can also set the backend to software, which won't have these. Thanks, David. In my case, changing the render loop from threaded to basic was enough. I see this defect is marked as 'resolved upstream' is it really resolved upstream or this status is set just because the issue is not in plasmashell? |
Created attachment 133582 [details] Screenshot of the issue SUMMARY On KDE Neon I experience heavy graphical issues when running the system in vmware or virtualbox with 3d acceleration enabled. Glitches are only appear in plasmashell, I can run steam, play games, watch webgl in firefox without an issue after I `kquitapp5 plasmashell`. No issues when I run the system on a bare metal (nvidia gtx1080 with open source driver) or with 3d acceleration disabled. I didn't experience issues earlier on the same setup, it started to reproduce somewhere in 5.18-5.20 update. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install vmware workstation, enable 3d acceleration in it 2. Install kde neon inside OBSERVED RESULT plasmashell glithes EXPECTED RESULT plasmashell works without glitching SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS `org.kde.KWin /KWin supportInformation` attached
