I've never seen this happen with the Vertical or Horizontal Mirror tool or both at the same time. Which version of krita are you using and which Linux distribution? Im using the recent update 4.0. But ive just noticed it wont work for the basic - 1 brush but it will work for the other brushes. I don't understand why. Are you sure you're using the latest version: Krita 4.4.0? Please update (or wait until tomorrow and then update - there will be a new version, Krita 4.4.1). Some time ago Basic-1 brush wasn't working with symmetry tools, but now it should work, so you're probably using an older version.
