SUMMARY
It seems it would be better to use a drop down menu to select desktop sessions in the login screen. It currently uses a different control and when clicked, it covers the item that was clicked. The user loses visibility of the original control that was selected.

There is also no indication in the session menu of what desktop is currently selected. There should be a way to show that. Maybe a note in parenthesis that says:

Plasma Wayland (Active)
Plasma Wayland (Selected)

Or

[x] Plasma Wayland
