SUMMARY

I'm using Kontact to check my email messages. Most often something gets stuck, in the message pane I just see "Retrieving Folder Contents / Please wait...", but nothing happens no matter how long I wait. Selecting a message doesn't change anything, only the same screen is redisplayed. Akonadi Console shows all agents are "Ready". This is not a server issue as Thunderbird works as expected with the same account.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start Kontact
2. Setup an e-mail account
3. Check your messages

OBSERVED RESULT

Message pane displays a "please wait" message, but nothing happens even after selecting another message.

EXPECTED RESULT

Message list downloaded and messages displayed on click.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This has been a bug in KMail for 4-5 years now. I have developer experience and would be happy to assist hunting this annoying bug if someone tells me what to check.
