Description Tom de Geus 2020-09-26 15:06:17 UTC
SUMMARY

Dark theme appear unavailable on macOS.

What is more is that it would be great if it follows the system preferences that now make you choose for all apps.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
macOS: 15.16.1

Why is there no dark color theme available? Under Settings-> Design you can't choose?

Maik,

Tom talk about the native MacOS dark theme configurable from MacOS control panel.

Indeed I was talking about the native theme. Now there are still many things that remain white. Also, I like that apps follow the global choice by default.

Hi,

digiKam 7.2.0-beta2 pre-release PKG installer now support BigSur and is compiled with last stable Qt 5.15.2.

https://files.kde.org/digikam/

Problem still reproducible with this version.

Thanks and happy Christmas in advance

Tom,

Here with 7.2.0 pre-release, breeze dark theme is the perfect work around.

I do not see one Qt based application supporting yet the native Apple dark theme. I'm sure that a Q of time.

With Breeze dark theme, there is no white hole area in GUI.

Do you mean by pre-release "7.2.0-beta2"?

The PKG installer from this repository :

https://files.kde.org/digikam/

It's currently 7.2.0 Release Candidate, so close to final release.

This issue can still be reproduced in version 7.3.0

I changed the Icon theme to "Breeze Dark", restarted, and I still see the white theme everywhere like nothing changed.

It's a fresh install, with default settings.

Am I missing something or is it still an issue?

You can try with PKG installer available here :

Breeze Dark on digikam v7.4.0 on macOS (Monterey)

in version 7.4.0, Breeze Dark shows only white icons but the windows don't change to dark, they stay white as you can see in the screenshot

I don't have the "Themes" option in the Settings menu(In reply to Jota from comment #11)

Ok Sorry, I didn't see the settings menu, since in the new MacBook (2021) it's on the right side of the cam.

I will mark it as solved in 7.4.0
