Description Fonkle 2020-09-18 14:23:30 UTC
SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Dolphin
2. Activate 'Details View Mode'
3. Navigate to a folder containing a RGBE / Radiance HDR file (*.hdr)

OBSERVED RESULT

Thumbnails are generated for most image files with the exception of RGBE / Radiance HDR (*.hdr) files.

EXPECTED RESULT
Thumbnails are generated for all known image files.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE neon 5.19
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0
Qt Version: 5.15.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The MIME type for HDR files appears to be 'application/octet-stream' according to file --mime-type. Isn't that supposed to return 'image/x-hdr' for RGBE / Radiance HDR files?

Note: If I manually open the .hdr file using GIMP, the thumbnail is generated and, from then on, correctly displayed in Dolphin.

Did you install kimageformats?
Comment 3 Christoph Feck 2020-09-18 17:55:45 UTC
Oh well, that's odd. These thumbnails show up in Icons view mode, but vanish in Details and Compact view modes.
Comment 4 Fonkle 2020-09-18 18:12:05 UTC
No, sorry if I explained it wrong. Thumbnails are not being generated in either (Icons / Compact / Details) mode.

If I open the file in Gimp though, the thumbnail seems to be generated. From then on, it is visible in either view mode.

'kimageformats' does not exist in the KDE Neon (5.19) repo. 'kimageformat-plugins' exists and is installed.

This has been fixed a while ago. Should I set its status to 'RESOLVED/FIXED'?
