Currently you can edit ratings and a description quickly in the image view with information pane enabled. Unfortunately this does not change image file tags Exif/IPTC/XMP where elements do exist for this. The disadvantage is when you copy/move an image with additional information like rating or a description to another computer these information are lost.
So it would be great if one could enable to also store these information in image files Exif/IPTC/XMP tags.

The information is stored in xattr, so if you copy the image to another xattr supporting storage, all the information will be kept. That being said, propagating this data to image-file-specific meta-data storage would be a good idea.
