SUMMARY 
I want to add [year] before the album title in the tag 2 section and just wondered if there was a way to automate it.  I had just realized that the album year would be helpful when browsing on my car head unit since it only displays artist, title and album.

You can do this with menu function "File/Import from Tags...". In the same way as the predefined example "Track Number to Title" you can define a new Format "Year to Album" with Source "[%{year}] %{album}" and Extraction "%{album}(.*)".
