SUMMARY
Lunching the Project > online Resources opens the search window but after writing something and clicking on search button the icon changes to hour glass but nothing happens (does not show any results).
All tree resources types present the same behavior. 

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Project > online Resources
2. write something in search text box
3. clicking on search button

OBSERVED RESULT

showing some results on the Search Online Results window

Freesound

You have to wait a minute or more to get a result. The word "ping" show 1800 results.

Thanks for the effort emohr but I can wait hours and still no results :(

I tested on Win10 and I get a result as well within a while. I have on both machines the Microsoft virus scanner and Microsoft firewall. 

Do you have a different virus scanner and firewall which blocks Kdenlive to go online?

I thought that also but this issue is showing also on my office PC with different virus scanner. Both PCs have Windows 10. One with Avast and other with McAfee virus scanners.
I'me going to check the firewalls as well...

There have been several issues with the online resource dialog. Some of them have been fixed for 20.12.3, but the online resources got a complete rewrite for 21.04 (scheduled for April 2021). I am closing this now as UNMAINTAINED. Feel free to reopen this bug or create a new report if this is still happening with version >= 21.04
