Description Raghavendra kamath 2020-07-26 04:54:41 UTC
SUMMARY
As krita has vector selection as default and user can edit the selection with the shape selection tool. Edits are generally scaling and moving operations, but user could also want to duplicate the selection shape and move it. Imaging a scenarios where you have pearl necklace and you have to duplicate the circle shape selection. Ideally user will copy the circular shape and paste it in edit selection mode. But copy past results in new vector layer.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Krita and make a new document
2. create a selection (elliptical selection) and switch to edit selection mode
3. select the ellipse shape and copy paste it.

OBSERVED RESULT
A new vector layer with the pasted shape is created, this shape doesn't have any fill or stroke which will further be confusing.

EXPECTED RESULT
The pasted vector object should be in the selection layer thus adding to the selection.

Confirming this happens, and can disorint/confuse as you would expect to paste in place.
