I can confirm the observed behavior, it's fully reproducible here. VERSIONS Kontact: 5.14.1 (20.04.0) KDE Plasma Version: 5.17.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.70.0 Qt Version: 5.14.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Akregator browser settings: Left mouse click: Open in external browser (I confirmed that the bug occurs with all three selectable options.) Middle mouse click: Open in new tab (I confirmed that there is no reaction on middle click with all three selectable options, but this is really a separate bug.) External browsing: Use default web browser (I confirmed that the bug also occurs when setting an external browser explicitly.) KDE browser settings: Open http and https URLs: in the following application: Firefox (I confirmed that the bug also occurs when setting Chromium or Falkon as the default browser in the general KDE settings.)
