I have tried use baloosearch from terminal and this work well. I suppose the problem really is on Dolphin > Version 17.12.3
You're using software that is almost three years old. It is quite likely that these issues have been resolved in a newer version. I would recommend that you upgrade to Kubuntu 20.04.
