Can you please test with the latest version (https://kdenlive.org/en/download/) and update this report? If you don't use the appimage please try whether it leads to the same bug.

If it is still happening it would be useful to have more specific information such as your kdenlive project file or at least things like frame rate, profile size,…

Hello

I have the same problem on windows platform with 21.08 version (and looking at forum, we are not alone...)
Comment 5 emohr 2021-08-23 16:03:49 UTC
Does it only happen with WEBM profile? Can you point me to the forum tread?
Comment 6 pascal.darre 2021-08-23 16:13:07 UTC
In my case, it was with MP4 profile (it happen with one projet but not an other one)
When googling "kdenlive waiting", lot of results...
Comment 7 emohr 2021-08-23 16:31:41 UTC
Can you upload here the project file which generates the waiting massage?

Thank you. When I start rendering the project with placeholders rendering starts immediately.

This project contains 3 clips only, which is very good for testing purpose.

Can you do following test: delete one clip and check if rendering is starting.
If not, make an undo (CTRL+Z) and delete another clip and test rendering.

This, to find out which clip is blocking rendering. If you find the clip which is blocking rendering, go to the project bin and transcode this clip and enter the transcoded clip to the timeline. Check if rendering is working.

Well now it works perfectly (!)... I closed my 2 instance of Kdenlive (I had 2 projects in parallel) and now opening only this one and it works...
so unfortunately I cannot reproduce right now

Thanks for the feedback. Yes starting Kdenlive twice on Windows opens dbus-daemon.exe twice which can lead to render conflicts.

I close this bug. If it still appears in the latest version, please feel free to re-open it and update the affected version number.
