Screenshot taken of the "Open File" screen. All folders on the left-hand side are greyed out and unselectable. The dropdown menu is greyed out and unselectable. The icons are missing.

From what I've been able to gather, this is a bug that's exclusively on the snap release for Krita. I don't know how often it's been reported, if it has at all, but when the "Open/Save/Save As" menu pops up as I try to save my progress: All of the shortcuts on the left-hand side are greyed out (leaving only Computer and "57" for me), I can't navigate the drop-down menu as everything is greyed out there, and the "add new folder and the left/right" icons are completely missing. I have to blindly click around where they generally should be in order to navigate.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install Krita directly from the Ubuntu Software Center.
2. Create a new file or open a preexisting file that is outside of the default directory.
3. If you choose to save the new file, try to save it outside of the default directory or use the dropdown menu to navigate.

OBSERVED RESULT
Using the snap-store release, I found that the drop-down menu can be clicked but it can't be used. The shortcut area is greyed out and unusable, and the icons next to the drop-down menu are selectable, but missing.

EXPECTED RESULT
Using the app-image release, I found that everything works as it should. The drop-down menu is normal, I can add shortcuts to the directories I typically save to, and all of the icons for the buttons are present.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

Thanks Boudewijn

For reference, we're also investigating this bug in the snapcraft forum: https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/broken-theming-and-missing-icons-on-gtk-file-picker-using-kde-neon-extension/18937

@taliaskittles12@gmail.com

I pushed a fix for this to the `edge` channel of the snap. You can get it by running `snap refresh krita --edge` or `snap install krita --edge`. Can you test it out to see if that fixes your issue?

I'm presuming NEEDSINFO FIXED means "We need info to see if it's fixed"?
Comment 6 Halla Rempt 2020-07-21 06:51:35 UTC
We actually seldom use that combination, mostly it's needsinfo waitingforinfo :-)
Comment 7 taliaskittles12 2020-07-21 06:53:54 UTC
Yeah, sorry. Just tested it out and so far it looks like everything's working as it should.
Comment 8 merlijn.sebrechts 2020-07-21 14:53:29 UTC
I'm not sure what you're apologizing for, but thanks for testing it out! I've published this fix to `stable`.

Noted, also I was apologizing for not responding sooner. Thanks you so much for giving me this fix. I tried to ask about this on the krita-artist forums and all I got was "install the app.image version". I'm glad that I can go back to drawing and saving stuff like I did before.

Oh, that's good to know people report issues on that forum! I just found 5 more bugs by searching the forum for "snap" :) Looks like I've got some fixing to do :)

Ah jeez, well I wish you luck in fixing them all!
