OBSERVED RESULT
when clicking a colour with the tool, a selection layer will pop up in the layers docker but disappear a split second later.

Please make sure to check the options in the Tool Options. There are two new options: "use selection as boundary" and the sample layers option, please make sure your options are correct for what you want to do.

It would be best if you shared the .kra file you try the tool on and write down the options you have set.
