Where are you clicking "Create new session" On the login screen? On the session list screen? Can you attach a screenshot? Created attachment 129691 [details]

I use the switch user from the menu as shown.
On the following lock screen there is an icon under the password field 'Switch user'. Nothing happens when I click there
Ah ok, so when you click on that button, it logs you off instead of switching. That should be the same issue as Bug 422870 which is fixed in Plasma 5.19.2! *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 422870 *** No, it does not log me off - just nothing happens. And it is still an issue in 5.19.2 Got it, sorry. I don't have this issue, but my "Switch Users" item in the menu keeps disappearing: Bug 423526. Could you run plasmashell on the command line? You can do this with `plamsashell --replace. Once you've done that please click on the non-functional button and attach any output that appears in the terminal window. Once you've done that please click on the > non-functional button and attach any output that appears in the terminal > window. That left me with a non-working desktop - menu bar gone, window decorations not working - I could only kill the x-Session. and it did not show the lock screen with the 'change user' button Thanks, that wasn't as helpful as I was hoping. :( A more experienced Plasma developer will probably need to have a look. Is this still an issue in Plasma 5.20? (In reply to Nate Graham from comment #10) > Is this still an issue in Plasma 5.20? No, it does still not work properly. The lock screen comes up with a button 'Start new session', but without any users displayed. When I hit the button it brings me back to the unlock screen of my previous session That seems like a different issue. Now it's doing something when clicked, but that thing isn't correct! Can you file a new bug report against ksmserver? Thanks! |
