SUMMARY
Noticed when I opened KSystemLog that it was getting an error on loop.  Checked journal and it's filled with error message "file:///home/derek/.local/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.networkMonitor/contents/ui/HistoryGraph.qml:41: TypeError: Cannot read property 'height' of null"

Fixed in 5.20 where we ported the networkmanager applet away from that old buggy implementation.
