Seems reasonable. Hmm, I gave this a try and adding another string makes the display look too busy IMO. What I think we should do instead is display fractional stars visually. That would help, but might still be difficult to tell between eg 4.4 and 4.6 stars. Could the fractional rating appear upon mouseover of the stars?

Might I even suggest to do away with the stars altogether? For example, if I open discover and sort 'Education' apps by rating, I find it difficult differentiating between 4.8/5 & 4.9/5 by looking at 4 whole stars plus one-almost-full star. I find myself having to click on the individual apps just to check the decimal rating. I would rather see - 3.8/5 (41 reviews) Vs. ***three-and-four-fifths-of-one-star*** (41 reviews). The star rating system, in a sense, is more of a middle man that doesn't actually provide accurate information to the user. The decimal rating system is much more accurate, clear & easy to read and is also much easier to compare with other apps in a list. Yeah, that might make sense. It would remove a bit of code complexity, too. Moved to >>> https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=510394 Closing. |
