Description Niksa Baldun 2020-06-18 06:39:32 UTC
I am using Croatian keyboard layout, in which the grave symbol (ASCII code 96) is on the top-left key. As I don't need that key, I thought of using it to show/hide Yakuake window. However, when I set it as global shortcut, I can no longer type the lowercase "v" letter (shift+v works). I am guessing this is not specific to Yakuake, but is a general problem in KDE. This problem is actually present for many years, but I haven't reported it before because I was using Tilda, in which grave shortcut works flawlessly.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set system to use Croatian keyboard layout (not sure if this is necessary)
2. Select "Configure Keyboard Shortcuts" in Yakuake menu
3. Set grave (`) as global shortcut for "Open/Retract Yakuake"
4. Try to type "v" in terminal or text editor

OBSERVED RESULT
The letter "v" cannot be typed

EXPECTED RESULT
I should be able to type the letter "v"

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.70.0
Qt Version: 5.15.0

Standard keys without modifiers cannot be used as global shortcuts in currently supported Plasma versions. Using CTRL+` or ALT+` works fine.
