SUMMARY
Fresh install Kubuntu 20.04
I have VLC always open in a window, whether it is playing anything or not, 24 hours per day. Since installing 20.04 I notice that every few days, 2-5, VLC just hangs while I am watching it. I am able to alt-tab to get input control and restart the system. The system takes several minutes, normally less than 20 seconds, to close but reboots normally. It appears that there is no error in the VLC log though there are slabs or red in the syslog. For reporting I have had VLC write to syslog so it is all together and is attached.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Play a movie - only occurs occasionally but always within 5 days.
2.
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
VLC hangs, sometimes the picture goes first then audio.

EXPECTED RESULT
VLC plays the movie normally.

Please report this to either the Kubuntu people or the VLC people. KDE doesn't have any control over VLC.
