IMHO, wasted space. You can also use your mouse scroll wheel to 'quickly' change the Capture Mode. And than there are the shortcuts: Meta + Print -> Active window Meta + Shift + Print -> Rectangular region etc. Ping, thoughts on this? I agree with Antonio. Gnome screenshot tool or at least there mockup has "buttons" for the different selection methods.
