SUMMARY
I can't get the onion skin to work no matter what I do. It disappears instead of showing it's red or green tint and it's really frustrating.

Very many people can get the onion skins to work so this is probably not a bug.

It's more likely that you need some help and advice for this subject area.

Can you create a topic in the General Help section of the KDE Krita forum:

Someone will eventually reply and there will be a conversation with exchange of screenshots, etc.
