It would be great to keep commands in history (for each backend independently and removing duplicates). 

Those could be saved to files so they are available after restarting Cantor. If that would be implemented, there could be some usability improvements:

- Users could navigate in history using up/down arrow keys

- Users could use autocompletion: start typing and then use up/down arrows to move under that selection

- There could be a side panel to visualize/navigate/edit/apply those commands in history.
