This should improve a lot with the Dolphin 20.08 release since we've removed the full path from the tab and now it only shows the folder name. So tab lengths should be much shorter for typically-named folders and not become so huge! Using a fixed maximum tax width would result in long folder names eliding at some point and becoming less readable, and I'm not sure that's a further improvement over what we'll have in 20.08. Please feel free to re-open this bug once you're using 20.08 if you still feel like further improvements are needed. |
Created attachment 128219 [details] Screenshot and proposed correction SUMMARY Tabs automatically spread over the whole tab-area, instead of having a fixed maximum width. This is astheatically unpleasing and I have never seen it in any other file manager or browser. (Have a look at the attachment, right as it is now, left as it could be). STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Dolphin with tabs enabled OBSERVED RESULT Single tab spreading over whole tab area, using maximum width available EXPECTED RESULT Tab using a fixed width SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Manjaro KDE KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.69.0 Qt Version: 5.14.2
