Description Bernie Innocenti 2020-05-05 11:14:19 UTC
SUMMARY

Copying individual files mounted ntfs partition with uid=1000 (me) succeeds, but copying a directory containing files does not work.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Mount any ntfs volume, giving yourself permission to write (I use the uid=1000 mount option since my desktop user is uid 1000)
2. Open the filesystem in Dolphin, and drag some folder to it

OBSERVED RESULT
The copy immediately halts with "Could not write to <file within the directory>".
Retrying does not help.

The destination does not contain the directory, so I suspect Dolphin fails to create it.
However, Create -> New Folder works just fine.

EXPECTED RESULT

The copy should succeed as usual.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.69.0
Qt Version: 5.14.2

I don't usually use ntfs partitions, so I did a quick test and copying directories seems to work.

What's the output of:
ls -ld /path/to/mount/point
mount

Waiting for result of commands on bug reporter system :

ls -ld /path/to/mount/point

mount

To help debugging.

I tried again today, and I can't reproduce this bug any longer.
Perhaps updating to KDE Frameworks 5.70.0 fixed it?

It is not clear as to why :
https://kde.org/announcements/kde-frameworks-5.70.0.php

It is 5.70.1 you are using ?
Comment 5 Bernie Innocenti 2020-05-30 12:35:43 UTC
Yes indeed:

kio 5.70.1-1
plasma-framework 5.70.1-2
