SUMMARY


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start Kdenlive 20.04 appimage (Ubuntu 19.10)
2. Put a video media on the timeline
3. Cut it (X key then click)
4. try to directly select the fragment (to remove it from the timeline)

OBSERVED RESULT
5. It's impossible unless you click anywhere else before


EXPECTED RESULT
To be able to select the cut fragment (each of both) without any click elsewhere before (timeless)

Thanks for your report! This sounds like it is related to https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenlive/-/issues/859. There have been several fixes for selection issues and I can not reproduce with 20.12.3. Can you please update (https://kdenlive.org/en/download/), test again and tell us if you still have this problem?
