I'm configuring my AT&T Worldnet account (called an 'identity' in Kmail) as I have done many times in Win2k's Outlook Express.  I can receive mail via the pop3 server ipostoffice.worldnet.att.net port 995 but can not SEND mail via the smtp server at imailhost.worldnet.att.net on port 465.  NOTE that this is not via dial-up but accessing att's networks via the net under different standard att ports.  This works fine on another machine running Outlook Express on win2k.  There seems to be a problem with the authentication in Kmail.  As it works on OE it should work in Kmail since Kmail provides smtp w/ ssl and authentication.  Can you help resolve?  Thanks in advance.

P.S.  My version of Kmail (1.4) with SuSE 8.0 works fine for my roadrunner email.  However roadrunner does not require ssl or any authentication.

there were several fixes in the 3.0.x releases to the smtp auth support. could you perhaps 
update to 3.0.5a and try again? 
 
also more detail as to which sort of authentication AT&T Worldnet requires (plain, login, 
CRAM-MD5, etc...), what you have it set to and what the exact error message you get 
back is would be helpful.

Just upgraded to KDE 3.0.5 with KMail 1.4.2.  Works great now!  Thanks for 
touching base with me.  FYI, the KMail smtp setups for att worldnet e-mail 
require SSL and LOGIN, which must have been fixed in the newer release.
